Make The ChoiceComment
About a year ago I watched a film that was recommended to me by many friends called “God’s Not Dead”. I was reluctant to watch it because I didn’t want to waste my time on a ‘corny Christian movie’. Besides, I’m already a Christian and the title sounded stupid to me, I know that God exists, that He is the creator of heaven and earth (Psalm 146:6, Psalm 121:2, Acts 14:15b, 1 Chronicles 29:11-12). God Himself wasn’t created, He was, He is and always will be (Revelation 1:8), and therefore He cannot die.
When I sat down to watch the movie I was completely blown away. The film follows an evangelical Christian college student whose faith is challenged by a philosophy professor who declares God a pre-scientific fiction. I was challenged on the real life issues that our generation face today, particularly the choice to follow God or not and how that practically looks in my life.
During Roundups in Winter, I encouraged my girls in my cabin to make the choice. Whether or not you choose God, I challenged them to not sit on the fence any longer, but to make the choice. As Josh, the main character in the film says, “it all comes down to a choice…believe or don’t believe”. In John 3:16, the Bible says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Whether you choose God or not, He loves you, He sent His only Son to die for you so that you can live together forever with Him. You just have to make the choice to believe. To believe is also not just something that you think or know in your head, it is a daily action, a daily choice to follow your creator.
Are you going to make the choice? Do you believe that God’s not dead? Do you believe that there is a God and he loves you so much that He would die for you?
Watch this clip from the film “God’s Not Dead”. If you can, grab a copy of it and watch the whole movie. I’d love to hear your thoughts and talk about any questions that come up.
