• Words Have Weight

    18 March, 2016Posted by Carly

Over the past couple of months, God has been challenging me on what has been coming out of my heart and flowing to my thoughts, my attitude, and my speech towards others. Am I building up and encouraging others with my words? Or am I destroying others by gossiping, bad-mouthing or swearing to and around other people?

"It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do it. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell." (James 3:5-6 MSG)

Now you might think that these are pretty strong words coming from James. But have a think even in just the last week...have you said something to someone that discouraged them or hurt them?

    Check out this video...

It really is amazing how powerful our words can be. I know that I myself want to be the best representative of Christ that I can possibly be. In order to be that, an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), that is to represent Christ well to others, I need to be a person who encourages others, who builds others up, who speaks life into others, not death, destruction or nastiness.

We'd really love to hear your thoughts, please share with us how you're going in this area, or even how we can pray for you.
