What does it mean to be the daughter of a King? What does it mean to be a son of the Most High?

The Bible describes us as these, in places like Romans 8:14, John 1:12 and Galatians 3:26. I have personally been really challenged to think of myself like this lately.

I know that I am not perfect. I know that I am a sinner. I know that I often, very often, choose what is wrong and selfish and not right.

If I wake up each morning and think "I am a sinner. I am so selfish. I am not very good at being good" then guess what? I’ll most likely spend most of my day living this out! I will live up to the expectation of being a sinner, and I’ll do a mighty good job of being like this.

However, imagine what it might be like if I woke up each morning and said, ‘I really am not perfect, but in God’s eyes I am so valuable & precious. God created and chose me to be His daughter, His princess, His royalty. And He thinks I’m so valuable, that He’s preparing a place for me in heaven.’ How then do you think I would act in my day? I reckon thinking like that would help me to make choices like a daughter of a King would. It would help me to not desire sin. I even think it would help me say 'I can live as Jesus today, because sin is not even an option for a daughter of God!’.

Do you see what I mean? It blows me away that God thinks of me like this. And it blows me away that when I find my identity in this, sin and evil aren’t even options in my life. They’re not even choices, because I’m not even looking for a choice. I know the only way is to follow Him.

I hope that you can be encouraged, that if you are a follower of Jesus, then you would start to view yourself in light of that. You aren’t a child of the darkness anymore. (Colossians 1:12-13) You are a child of the King! So live like it ok?!
