Psalm 16 is one of my favourite passages in the Bible. I love how David, the writer of this particular Psalm, declares the fullness of joy and contentment he has found in God, even in the most difficult of times.

Check out Psalm 16 hereLet’s focus on verse 8.

“I have set the Lord always before me.”

This speaks of a decision David made to put God first in his life. He determined that God would always be his focus, his perspective. Putting your faith in God is a daily decision. Do you put God first in everything? Or only when you remember or feel like it?

“Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

This is the result of David’s decision to put God first. David is secure in sticking with God and aligning his values, perspectives and plans with God’s. It’s important to note that when you commit to God and begin your journey with Him, that it doesn’t always mean everything will be easy and carefree. Sin will still be present, ‘bad’ things will still occur, but it’s how we deal with those things that will change. We will walk the road with God. Beside us. David is saying that his faith will not be shaken because he’s chosen to stick with God.

Would your life look different if you were secure in God and His plan for your life?

Do the things that David writes resonate with you? If so, how?
